Notes

I had Soph pick out her favorite skein of TFA evolution (of COURSE she picked a cashmere-blend, exclusive club colorway. Her momma raised her well) but she thinks it’s for a baby/toddler sweater for a friend. I got her to try on her sister’s Marple birthday dress for fit by telling her I wanted to see “how long the baby would be able to wear it.”

Put down for indeterminate period of time. Picked back up 7/23/15…only a year overdue.

PROJECT NOTES

Working yoke/armholes per instructions for size 9-10. However, based on experience with true width of body on first Marple, am modifying body on this to be closer to size 4T. (Had older daughter try on 4T, and it fit her - with positive ease - everywhere but in the armhole area.) I am doing this by casting on and working per instructions for 9/10 through armholes, then adjusting increases so that I end up with 248 stitches around. This will leave me with more of a sweater than a dress, which is what my goal is and what my amount of yarn will allow.

Modifying body so it’s different than first Marple. I want both girls to have similar, but not identical, sweaters. I think the big one will prefer it this way. Using Barbara Walker’s Flower Eyelet stitch, which is a 16+8 repeat, hence the 248 body stitches. I’m making modifications to the original stitch pattern to be knit in the round.

After working neck/yoke on 3s per pattern, switched to 5s, worked increase row to end up with 248 sts. Did this by taking starting stitch count (118) plus co sts for underarms (42 total) to get 160. Needed total of 88 increases to get to 248. Worked increases after co for underarm sts.

Increase row: k7, kfb, (kfb) 43x, k7, kfb. Repeat for back.

Worked 3 rows stockinette before beginning lace pattern.

-Modified Flower Eyelet Pattern- (yo2 = double yo)

1- K10, * k2tog, yo2, ssk, k12; rep to end, k10.
2- (& all even) Knit, working (k1, p1) in every double yo.
3- K8, * (k2tog, yo2, ssk) twice, k8, rep to end.
5- Repeat row 1.
7- Repeat row 3.
9- Repeat row 1.
11- K2, * k2tog, yo2, ssk, k12, rep to end, k2.
13- * (K2tog, yo2, ssk) twice, k8, end (k2tog, yo2, ssk) twice.
15- Repeat row 11.
17- Repeat row 13.
19- Repeat row 11.
20- As row 2.

Worked four complete repeats of above pattern before beginning garter stitch border.

Worked 12 rows of garter stitch border at end of sweater.

Done in time to give her for her 11th birthday…love the versatility of this pattern. :)
