Used long-tail over two needles for cast-on.

Altered beginning edging from stockinette to 2x2 ribbing. This flows well in to established pattern for body of cowl, and creates a more formal edging. Worked on size 7 needles for four rows before changing to 8s and beginning body of pattern.

Pattern is very clearly written and works up quickly! It’s especially nice to find a free pattern that’s well-written; I’ve encountered several paid patterns of late that could take a lesson from this designer.

I think this could be my go-to pattern for last-minute gifts. Despite the time it’s taken me to complete, it could easily be worked in a day, and produces a lovely finished product.

Pattern is easy to memorize and very portable.

Used a locking stitch marker to keep track of rows; placed on first knit stitch of row 1, moving after each repeat was completed.

Worked a total of seven repeats (instead of six) to maximize the skein of yarn and color distribution.

Worked four final rows on smaller needles prior to bindoff to match beginning of cowl.

Used EZ’s Sewn Bindoff for the end of the cowl, so it would most closely match the long tail cast-on, making it wearable from either direction.
