MadMay 2012 Faberge KAL.

I’ll make a swatch today to find out if this color combination is okay.
As expected the colors are not the most contrast combination, but I like it. I understand the point of this pattern is the contrast, but actually I want something more subtle. Therefor I am also not considering the beads in the top row - they are to shiny (not really visible on the photo, but they have silver lined middle and they sparkle a lot especially in sunlight). I’ll go with the black beads. They are there but they are not visible immediately.
In the middle row there are 8/0 size beads which are really too small for this yarn weight.
Unraveled the sample swatch.

Tern: 106g
Graphite: 103g

Cast on 445+36 for slightly bigger shawl. Two skeins should suffice.

The ruffle and two repeats of the slip stitch beaded part are done. I ran out of beads though, so I have to go and buy two more bags…

I finished the overlay part and I am quickly finishing the eyelet part.

Finished 31.5.2012 22:30 - local time. Just on time. It was rather close.

I’ll block and photograph properly later.

Next time: to make use of both skeins I suggest to make the ruffle a few rows longer as well as enlarging the overlay part. I guess it would look better if the proportion of all three parts match the pattern size. Also it will use more of the overlay color and less of the background color.
