In the blog I have a picture tutorial on how to do the interesting “cable-not-cable” in the first square.

MODS:

Square 2: I shortened the cable at the end of the 2nd square, as it wasn’t symmetrical on the top and the bottom the way it was written. This did make the square a tad smaller than the rest, but the discrepancy was made up in blocking and sewing.

Square 2: I added beads every other row instead of every 4 rows.

Square 4: I twisted the “branch” stitches both in the front AND the back, to have a consistent look.
