May 18, 2014: I got bit by the superwash stretches bug again. This is the second time with madtosh merino light, I need to learn my lesson! I’ve had to completely take in the body seams and cut off excess material, I’ll be detailing that on my blog. All I can say is thank god this wasn’t circular knit. It turned out the sleeves worked with the slimmer body, oddly enough, so everything turned out beautifully.

Because I had used too small of a needle for the bottom garter band on the back, I decided to leave it open instead of re-do it. I think it’s cute!

Used all my Manor stash to the very last 6g, I am so proud! But I DID have to buy the other color skeins to “stashbust” and now I have to deal with those leftovers. Sigh!

I absolutely adore the collar, will definitely use again in the future. It’s just a tightly knit (smaller needle) reverse stockinette that rolls beautifully in.

February 13, 2014: As usual, some Dayana snafus!

First, my tension changed to the real tension once making the garment. I managed to bring it back to the original instructions, but only after the waist shaping. To make up for this, I will make the front wider and hope it all evens out.

Second, the stripe sequence OF COURSE ended up so that the pink stripes would be exactly adjacent to my planned pink garter stitch shoulders. /rolls eyes/ So, I did another stripe sequence, but this significantly lengthened the piece and probably shifted my waist to the wrong place. I don’t care, I’m going on!

St st gauge was 26 sts instead of 28, so I fixed my st counts in the following way:

CO 122.
To lengthen, started waist decs on 13th row instead of 9th.
Waist shaping and armholes the same.
Will calculate neck later.

Used 2.25 mm instead of 2.75 mm for garter edge. Probably a mistake as it’s really too tight. I’ll go to 2.5 mm for the front and cut and re-do the back if necessary. To deal with the reduced row gauge, I knit 22 rows after the long-tail cast-on.
