I designed this hat myself for a little boy whose grandmother, Mary, was an avid knitter. Mary sadly died of cancer that year and though I never met her she and I always kept an eye on how each other were doing as we both fought our own cancers.

When Mary lost her battle her husband donated her yarn and needles to Stitch and Bitch London to help us knit the London Lion Scarf.

My mum, Laura Parkinson and I each knit an item with her stash for her grandson to say thanks (my hat, my mum’s bunny, Laura’s jumper). I hope Mary liked them.
