Notes

#I wanted so much to love this yarn… I bought a Kone, now what???

This feels really good on the cone, albeit a little dry feeling but still quite soft. The colour is to die for… I just love the purple, it was so worth the wait. yum (I think it took a world tour before coming home to me!)

It knit up very nicely for my swatch. The stitch definition seems good and my swatch is well behaved and has no signs of any issues.

3.75mm needles left me with a fairly airy swatch but this yarn should bloom nicely.

Cuff:
It was a little splitty knitting in the round on the little cuff I tried. I was starting each round with a purl stitch so that didn’t help… I didn’t expect that ribbing would have any sproing and I was right… It fell flat.

The cuff softened up nicely and has just a slight halo from the angora but it is not sheddy. I am rewashing it with my swatch as I don’t think I got all the oils out. (I can still smell the spinning oils.)

Cuff
40 stitches CO and 2x2 ribbing.
Before washing:
2 1/4”wide x 2 1/2” high
After washing: (twice)
3 1/8” wide x 2” high

So it falls very flat in ribbing. Zero sproing to this one.

Little to no colour bleed while washing. I expected some as this is such a bold colour.

After washing

This is nowhere near as nice as our beloved 16nm angora/merino! It is softish, slightly fuzzy, velvety… but there are some obvious differences. (As I sit here petting my 5 year old sweater that I made from the 6/16m angora/merino! It is SOOO soft but very little pilling/shedding. Sure it shrunk in length and got a little wider … I should have planned better.)

This is softer now but still feels dry-ish. It pills super easily. Pills brush/pick off easily too so that being said, it’s sheddy after washing.

Someone else mentioned that it feels cashmere like after washing… Where is my disagree button when I need one!? Maybe softness depends on which colour you get but mine feels nowhere near cashmere like! More like an lambswool rather than merino, nevertheless cashmere.

Zero sproing… if I stretch out my swatch it stays pretty much in the shape that it was stretched. Scrunched into a ball, it stays scrunched up in a ball. Unfold the ball and it doesn’t flatten out into the original shape on it’s own and has to be patted flat. Is this what folks call a lack of drape? Could be.

It does have the wonky leg thing happening a little as well. It’s not so obvious in the garter or st.st. so much as it is in the ribbing.

I could have, maybe should have, gone down a needle size for a firmer fabric. That might also help with the pilling potential?

I might try a swatch held double.

Bottom line is that I adore this colour! I couldn’t be happier with this aspect… but I am more than a little disappointed with the lack of drape, softness and the sheddiness/pilling thing after washing. It was totally fine to knit up so this is good.
