I am hoping that these 2 yarns play nicely together. The cotton content in the Daydream concerns me a little but it’s only 30% so hoping it will be fine!
Swatch 27 st and first chart + mosaic edging= 44 grams. 8”/4” center. 11”/7.5”. (Colours don’t work well together but one of the right yarns.) 5mm hook

My yarn is here and the first chart is done! So beautiful! Yes, this is a very addictive style of hooking… What colour is coming out of the ball next and what will it look like with the overlay design keeps you wanting more!
Pattern #1 = 75 grams of yarn. (17 rows)
Pattern #2 = 70/145 grams (15 rows)
Pattern #3 = 103/248 (21 rows/53 rows)
Pattern #4 = 61/309 (15 rows/68 rows)
Pattern #5 = 104/405 (21 rows/89 rows)
Pattern #2 = 70/475 (15 rows/104)
Pattern #6 = 105/570(21 rows/125)
Pattern #4 = 62/632 (15 rows/140)
Pattern #7 = (21 rows)
Pattern #2 = (15 rows)
Pattern #1 = (17 rows)
193 rows in total + edging.
bold = middle of chart is 1/2 way point.
Usage: These numbers are technically 1/2 as only 1/2 the rows are hooked with each colourway. So if I managed to hook 46 rows, then really only worked 23 rows with that ball.
Ball 1 A - Chart 3 row 13 ( Row 46)
Ball 1 B - Chart 3 row 12 (Row 45)
I was surprised that they both ended within a row of each other!
Ball 2 A - Chart 5 row 18 (Row 85) 1 ball = 39 rows
Ball 2 B - Chart 2 (middle) row 6 ( row 95) 50 rows
Ball 3 A Chart 4 row 5 (row 131) 1 ball = 46 rows
Ball 3 B Chart 4 row 14 (row 139) 44 rows
Ball 4 A chart 2 row 11
Ball 4 B Chart 1 row 13
Total weight before the border and trimming ends = 860 grams.
A = 57 + 100 = 157 grams left
B = 90 + 100 = 190 grams left.
Should be more than enough for the edging.
Edging:
Back
3 rounds of the edging with DayDream = 47 grams (approx. 17 grams per round)
2 rounds of cream = 28 grams (call it 15 grams per round.)
I may do more rounds of the edge but I’ll wait till I get the front bit done to decide. I need to see how it looks first.
NOTE to self… If I ever hook another project like this…
- do the edge stitches a bit looser!
- do NOT tie/knot them before picking up the stitches on both sides of the edging! Do that after!
I didn’t have much of a problem on the back border, the first side I worked, it was a little tricky getting under the legs but the front was another kettle of fish. 3 sides were mostly okay but one side, the side I’d tied and knotted, was a total PITA to work. I had to use a 3mm hook to pick up the loop then work it with my 5mm. My hands are killing me!
Note:
The only reason the back for me was easier was that I did it first. Picking up the stitches is harder on the 2nd side… whatever side that may be because the stitches are tighter from being picked up on the first side.
I did the 5 sc, 1dcb thing on 3 of the rows of the front side on 3 rounds on the front. I did 6 rounds of edging which includes the joining of the front and back. It looks nice.
Total weight = 1035 grams. (not including the cuttings.)
