Whoa, so far am having major trouble. Materials list is incomplete (doesn’t list black felt and calls a sewing a needle a “knitting needle”). I am a tight crocheter, but the first attempt at the base hat (using the recommended I hook) resulted not in a medium adult size but a newborn size. Not even close.

I ended up pretty much free-handing the entire thing, just using the pattern as an inspiration.
