Notes

I was poking at this on and off for a long time, so it’s nice to finally have something done, even if part of me is considering undo/redoing sleeves and collar yet again. I’m going to wear it for a bit and see if the sleeves rest a little more naturally as I wear it more. I think I saw some improvement after blocking. It looks better in the pictures that I feel like it looks while I’m wearing it so the truth is probably somewhere in between. Really happy with the laser cut button we made for this, it’s got a topographic pattern on it. But I still haven’t figured out a good way to finish these buttons, so it might get removed, painted, stained or something like that in the near future.

May 5th: In the process of finishing…

  • erg, I dunno. blocking hoping the sleeves rest a little better, but I’m suspecting this yarn will grow as a result of the water. Also, not thrilled with the collar either, not enough stitches or something…I dunno. Not the most forgiving yarn. Also wondering if even before the blocking i should’ve made the small…
  • Well…turned out it didn’t grow, so that’s good. but it still sits a little funky and I’m not thrilled about it. It’s ok. We shall see if I wear it much.
  • Well, I wore it out and took photos, I like it much better than I did earlier. Still didn’t turn out quite as perfectly as I imagined, but it’s nice. I like the bright green! (even if there’s no way it can be considered an olive…)

April 10th: Lull in knitting time avaliable lately. Just too busy or tired when I am sitting down. So…started Rapunzel stocking two before finishing this one, even though it’s close. Then my last knitting task here was ripping out the sleeves I did. How did I forget to adjust for the gauge? I dunno. But at least they go really quickly, maybe an hour each? Should be quicker with fewer stitches…Anyway. Pulled out all the stuff I need to finish, left it by the couch, even though I recently picked up and mentally vowed not to do just that…but now it’s ready to be the next task. Maybe tonight.

March 22nd: Wow, I’m really not sure why I kept starting this and stopping. It’s quick and easy. I guess I wasn’t thrilled about how the knit is a little bit open on this size needle, but a year after I first stashed the yarn for this project and I think it’s pretty nice, for a spring wrap it will work. The construction on this is pretty nice too, very minimal seaming. I’m to the sleeves and I think I could get them done today if I focus just on this, but I may have some other things I should get done today. :(

From Queue: Already started this and lost count and now it’s in my queue again instead of a WIP. Now I have a row counter and at least it seems like it will go quickly.
