Notes

I made this blanket for an expected grand-niece due in mid-October of 2020. This was the first blanket, out of 4, that I started and the last one to complete. It was kept being put off due to other urgent projects. After almost 5 months, it is now completed.

The stitch pattern of this baby blanket is called the Crystal Waves stitch. It is similar to the Tulip stitch which is a flat pattern. Whereas, the Crystal Waves stitch has a 3D look to it.

The border was done with the Tulip stitch; here’s the tutorial video.

I learned the Crystal Waves stitch through this YouTube tutorial video. And, I learned to make the Bear applique through this YouTube tutorial video.

Originally, I planned to make the bear in the same color as the blanket with pink outline. But my niece, the mother-to-be, wanted something pink on the blanket. I tried the pink/peach yarn to make the border but it didn’t look good. In the end, a pink bear was the way to go.
