If you have or ever owned a Brother knitting machine, you’d know that its tension mast has only 1 placement for the paraffin wax. Have you ever wish that there would be 2 placements for the wax? I did, and tried different ways to accomodate them but they didn’t worked out as well as planned. I now had found a solution.
Awhile back, I found this unit on eBay (1st image). It is called Paraffining Device made for the Passap models. It was made to mount on the tension mast. I was warned by the seller that it wouldn’t work on the Brother mast. The Passap tension mast is thicker and this unit can be clipped on easily. However, the thickness of the Brother’s mast is much thinner and this unit wouldn’t be able to sit on it. I followed my 6th sense that told me I could make it work, and I did. It works quite well. Here’s my solution…
I used a pen/pencil grip that are sold inexpensively by the package. I chose one that has a triangle shape. Using a pair of scissor, I slit the grip lengthwise at one of the angle. Then, I placed the opening of the grip over the Brother tension mast. Now, the paraffining device is able to sit over the mast without slipping away. Voila, I now have waxes on both sides of the tension mast.
I’m sure that this idea can be used on different brand and model yarn tension masts as well. Only you can determine whether it will work or not.
So, if you ever come across one of this unit, don’t past it up just because it was made for the Passap knitting machine. Make it work!
