Notes

Another baby blanket for another grand niece.

I really like the look of the Solid Shell stitch on this parfait print color yarn. I used double strands of yarn for this blanket. It produced a thicker fabric, suitable for the long winter weather in Colorado where my grand niece lives.

If you’d like to learn this stitch, there are quite a few YouTube tutorials for the Solid Shell stitch.

This pattern started with a row of shells. Again, I made a chain stabilized row (in grey yarn) to minimize enlarged stitches when making shells. I will frog this row before making the border on this blanket.

In order to raise the look of the shells, I did back loop single crochets (blsc) that are in between the shells. Basically, the pattern is like this: >Shell (5 dc into the same st), skip 2 st, blsc into the next st, skip 2 st, shell in the following st, skip 2 st. Repeat from > across the row.

The Bear applique was a pattern from Craft & Crochet on YouTube.
