Not much here yet…

We have a new baby in our estate :))) a sister of three brothers! Will she become a princess or a wicked queen;)

I have one Rooster Baby Rooster ball in silver which I just wound into a skein and will dye now with Kool-Aid to make some baby booties in a bit more happy colour. I did one pair last year which I forgot to put into Rav but they turned out super cute:)

1. go:
1xyellow, 1x orange, 2x black cherry

I really like the colour. Not classic baby pastels but a strong red-orange:) Nice.

I did bind the skein very loose but there are still some quite greyish spots. One sees it less in the photo. So back to the pot bound in different places. I do not mind the colour not being a solid, I actually like it as I think it gives depth to the colour. But I do mind greyish spots…. so I just will go over with orange again.

2.go

The yarn is dry and wound - time to start!!! Well, it’s summer now, though we are on the West coast of Ireland and the heat wave seems to have gone! Still, I think I opt for a size somewhere between 3 and 9 months, so she can wear them in winter…

shaft:

instead of decreasing sts towards the ankle I will decrease the needle size:
k1 p1 rib in the round

  • tubular CO, 44 sts + 4 set up rows - 3.5mm
  • change to 3.25mm
  • after 5cm change to 3mm
  • after 8.5cm change to 2.75
  • stop rib after 10cm

instep:

back and forth over (44-3) 21 sts, 3mm
-->for the tail from the CO to be in the back of the leg:

  • k1 p1 12 sts past the end of row - the ‘rest’
  • next 21 sts = instep
  • last 11 sts they ‘rest’ as well

I think I will do a little lace heart:
4 rows st st (no selvedge sts)
heart motif ( 13sts wide, 16 rows long)

20 rows altogether

64sts, 3mm needles in the round,
-keep the direction from the last row from the instep (WS row) meaning the foot will be knitted inside out

  • reverse st st for the foot + 5 sts from each side of the instep, st st for the 21-(24)=11 sts from the instep which will be used for the sole later 12345679

  • pick 10 sts each side of the just knitted instep --> 10+10+21+23 (the ones that were resting)=64 sts

  • knit 10 rows take each side 4 sts off from the former instep sts (21). This is the front middle 11 sts that will form the sole.

The last row is 5 sts short.

sole:

knit back and forth in garter st. at the end of each row knit the last st from the sole with 1 st from the sides together until you have
