(uuuh, Tuesday the 13th…)

The kittens are 1 week old today :))) They are lovely and may start crawling around in another 2 weeks or so. I would like to be getting on with my ‘a blanket per kitten’ idea and have them around the house so they get used by the furries. When they then go to the ‘forever home’ they can take something that smells and feels familiar heart

I have decided on the second pattern as linked above. I might do the third with the same pattern just with the colours differently arranged?

Anyway, as it is the CM spring equinox competition and I will be using CM yarns and I DEFINITELY will be ready in the competition timeframe (in May!) I can enter my blanket(s) :)))

Beginning cone weights: (weigh each cone after each use of colour in the blanket - gets percentages of each square)

purple: 194g (191.2g / 183.3g / 146.7g
lilac: 187.1g (1?5g / 174.2g / 116.4g
light brown: 191.7g (186.6g / 159.5g / 97.4
dark brown: 163g (159.5g / 142.2g / 126.4g

Working yarn ends in on the go.

I have been knitting a LOT in the last few days… I had to put a plaster around my left forefinger as the yarn left quite some burns. It’s the many hours but as well the unwashed CM yarn feeling like string. Though I know it will change after a good washing. I will definitely give it a go through the washer for felting.

I will finish the purple layer (pic 3) and put 1 more in lilac and come then up with some border in the light and dark brown :))) I’m very happy with my progress and already am mulling over ideas for the third blanket…

20 April 2021

The knitting is done, just some more Kitchener stitching the border to the inside. With some 450 sts that will take a while ;) I’m dying to start the next and last little blanket!

Border: I stopped after the 10th square as I like it sizewise and I will use the dark and light brown for the border so each colour is used 3 times.

dark brown: The small garter stitch stripe has 3 ridges, I increased to stitches per corner in each purl row. I first thought of knitting it flat and just connect the beginning and end but what are 3 purl rows anyway, so I kept working in the round.

light brown: I worked the first increases in the second round, again 2 sts per corner. I did two more increase rounds with 2 rows without in between. The last increases were directly before the folding line (purl row). The decreases were worked the same with the first decrease row directly after the fold. The backside of the border has 1 row less as the Kitchener stitch is like 1 row.

Kitchener stitch: I love closures via Kitchener stitch! It is just ever so neat heart Though this one will take a while as there are quite a few stitches…
