04.04.

Phhh, ready! I did the last sewed stitch yesterday night a couple of minutes past 2 o’clock… By now my son is wearing it already and gave some of the spiders names, as he named the jumper Spider Attack:-)))

The “after-knitting” was nearly as big a job as the knitting and time-wise totaly underestimated by me! I might do a few things differently if knitted again, but can’t see THAT at the moment!

One for sure is the yarn. It’s acrylic and I would love to have done it in a ‘nicer’ yarn. Both of my children have very sensitive and dry skin, so I’ll have to see. Yak might be great, but is very great in price as well, for the care they give at their age!

THE SPIDER WITHIN A SPIDER AND MORE SPIDERS
(my working title)

There is Barbara Walkers knitted spider, there is spider man and there is my son. All of that shall some together to shape my new project:)

Without Barbara Walkers Spider this project probably would never have come to be - the first idea. my son spoke of having a tarantula as a pet, though he may still shriek comes a big spider along. the thing with boys and superheroes.

I want to change the spider a lot though:

I want a stark geometry: I want to change the shape of the body and head. I want the legs different. I want it bigger.

I will have to see if I can do it! Cool project:)

13.02.18

I got my spider to my liking, it’s bigger, the legs and the front with the eyes are different. I left the transitions between front - back - legs - body. That is really cleverly made.

In the pics there is a little bit of cheating, ‘my’ spider isn’t that much bigger. Barbara Walkers spider (right side, red) was, I think, knitted with a 3.5mm, mine (left side, lilac) with 3.75mm. Both yarns are Deramores DK Acrylic.

The patterns stands and have finally started to cast on:)

… well, isn’t there always something coming up one hasn’t thought about before… turns out intarsia knitting in the round isn’t all that easy. I off to practice that now…

23.02.18

I had a bit of a break here, but need to hurry somewhat now, deadline is coming:)

The Intarsia part at the bottom went well. Going technically in rows there I got fast tired of the RS rows - all those purl stitches. I decided the parts with no Intarsia, were it’s rounds, to knit inside out. Needs more concentration as the cables are not so visible, but much easier and faster to have all the knit stitches.

At the moment I am back to rows as the spider’s body I am knitting Intarsia style. The legs I knit in the main colour but will embroider over it with the contrast colour - big, fat spider legs, yay :)

I wanted to put a couple of pictures in. Need to start raglan tomorrow. Have crocheted my provisional cast ons already:)
