When the pattern came out in Dec 2018 I wasn’t even aware of the HRN sorting on the pattern search page. I think someone mentioned it to me.

Surprisingly, I woke up to the pattern of having hundreds of views in the last 24 hours so I was curious. And sure enough, today, over 5 years after being posted the dragon (ess) is for the search term ‘dragon’ first place on the HRN smile And, at this time 13:35 it is on place 16 for no search word at all!!!

Dec 2018
The pattern is still in the work. It will be released as 2 patterns, one for the dragon, one for the frame. The plan was to be ready by December, but my father passed away mid-November and the work at the pattern came to a halt. In case anyone wants an earburn when the pattern is released please send me a Ravelry message and I can do so.

Ever since I came across teerlings dragons (1), (2), I wanted to do one… but not a copy though she gave me her ok.

I have been working on and off on my dragon for some more than a year and hope I am close… I have knit a few meters of wings and heads and tails… and am still not happy! The only things I am sure about are head and neck. Well, it’s something. Hoping to have her until the ColourMart autumn competition, it would be a lovely thing to knit into a sweater:)

It’s 4 in the morning and my dragon is haunting and depriving me of sleep BUT I am extremely happy with the wing I just finished! Hope the other one is easy to adjust to the structure and THEN I am nearly there :)))!!!

Tahesha has been born!!! I have been knitting ALL night!!! Fierce and fiery yet beautiful and gracious:))) She had me consumed and I am sooo happy she has emerged!!!

Deramores Acrylic DK, 3.5mm, 47g

After creating and re-creating in acrylic I will knit her in some wool and see how the design blocks. Maybe a stitch here or there… and the body… find it still a bit boring, would love to incorporate a heart!

I just finished knitting her in wool (Drops Alaska) with 4.5mm needles, 103g yarn. I made minor adjustments, it is 1 sts missing at the top, so a little more adjustments will come. She is now soaking in some cold water and I will soon see how she looks!!! Happy days:)

… have pinned her down and WILL change some lines some but I looove her!!! - and here she is - pic9!

Some things I still would like to change:

  • belly bend on the left side a bit up
  • the ‘small lines’ in the wings
  • the upper part of the right wing

… the thing is, mostly, changing 1 stitch changes a lot of other things

blocked and relaxed: 20sts x 28 rows per 10 cm

Put a few more photos up… but having a birthday in the family that will be all for Tahesha today…

Funny thing with the heads in Pic 1 was, that I did them last year and couldn’t bring my charting and knitting together anymore - I had to reverse engineer my own knitting, phhh order, Ina!

Pic 3 has the trial and errors that survived frogging so far. But will frog, wash and reuse the yarn when the next crazy idea comes once Tahesha is completely done (prob wall hanging and sweater).

The cabled border in Pic 4 I did a few months earlier when trying around for my cabled sweater but didn’t use it in the end. Will take that as a starting point for both a square/rectangular border around and a cabled band as hem for the sweater. So still way to go!

The roving yarn Drops Eskimo was a pain to knit and I would like it for a wall hanging. But it having no elasticity I am not sure if it will sag with time… maybe felting would be an idea, but I don’t know how the cables would show after and I wouldn’t like it to shrink either.

And in the version with the Acrylic DK I do not like the distortions of the knitted fabric. It shows a lot there.

… now I am off to have something between a family lunch and dinner without cooking and doing dishes :)))

Pic 8: I have changed a few things and am happy with the top of the wings. I still don’t like ‘the between’, the sts around the head look still pulling to both side - will change that.
The yarn - I dunno. I frogged her und will use 5mm to see how that goes. I found it a bit dense. And, with the excellent sts definition one sees the distortions of the fabric due to the cables quite a bit. Maybe I tiny bit fluff? Like a lace strand of Alpaca? Would try it just don’t have any but white. The yarn itself is beautiful just as the CM description: lovely and soft, a little silky

Pic 5 shows the corner for the cabled border. In between the corners I am thinking of some Celtic knotwork symmetrical to the middle of each side:)

It’s unblocked and rolls a little with the reverse st st background. Will have to see how it blocks or possibly use garter st background. It will be ok in any way as say a pillowcase were it will be sewed at the outside but not sure for like a wallhanging…

29. Sep

I am starting to knit the border. Then dragoness and border need to get together - and voila:))
