Notes

This will become a BAG, frame first, Tahesha inside both with Intarsia cables --> plans have changed. My son really loves it and as the kids’ rooms are getting painted it will become a wall pocket hanger for my sons’ room. .

Tahesha is finished an I’m pretty damn happy :))) Plans for the ongoing projec have changed which doesn’t meant I won’t make a bag for myself - just later…

The border is finished, now just weaving in the ends and to the fun part of Tahesha :)

The border has in- and outside (dark blue lines) 2 sts that are knitted on the RS and slipped on the WS that make a kind of loop (1 every 2 rows) that I will use to pick up sts at the bottom and connect dragon and border at the sides.

left/right side: 92 rows/46 loops
top/bottom: 88 rows/44 loops
each corner diagonal: 2 rows/1 loop

The diagonal loops go into top and bottom --> 46 loops each side.

  • I think 93 rows equal 51 sts, 46 loops, will need to increase 5: 46/6=7.67 - 8 inc 7 inc 8 inc 7 inc 8 inc 8
  • 92 rows, Tahesha is 79, but there are two SRs in the charts were only half of the width is knitted --> 77 rows, 8 rows rev st st bottom, 7 rows rev st st top -very first and very last rows will be knit sts on the RS as there is a colour change

  • Using 4 strands of the lace singles for the Intarsia cables, 1 strand n-plied plus 1 additional strand
  • spit splicing pieces onto as I go
  • though the base yarn is plied it is ‘worming up’ onto itself making it quite a PITA with all the colour strands
  • letting run a piece of waste yarn through the slipped st edges each side for ease of picking up sts later as I
  • will knit Tahesha inside the frame (not sure if I will do something outside, depends on size)
  • the short rows in the corner are German SRs though I like the Japanese ones better BUT the loop they create would go into different colours and I am afraid one would see that

It seems I am stuck with my Tahesha sweater with Intarsia cables… just can’t decide on things and summer is coming anyway, will practice on a bag!

  • using Colourmart yarn which gives me the chance as well to enter it in the CM equinox competition and if it is chosen as the winner in the Other category I can win a cone of yarn :))) Though I may not be getting ready, but it is such a motivation boost as well!
  • small needles, thinnish yarn, wet felting: should produce a somewhat dense fabric and dragon plus frame not getting too big
  • practice cabled corners with different widths going in and coming out, or at least that is the plan as I think of having a flap at the top that shouldn’t obscure the dragon by having a wider frame at the top
  • the plan is to line it, make it closable with a zipper and a few little pockets inside for keys/money… stuff that may need to be found faster
  • gives me the chance as well to make some notes on the Intarsia cables for Tahesha that I want to add as a file to the pattern as there was some interest

I have knitted 3 identical swatches. I left one as is (unwashed, mill end yarn), 1 washed and 1 slightly felted. The felting in the washing machine didn’t work out too well. I only have a front loader and programmes so I can’t set any timing for the different cycles like washing or rinsing and using the shortest programme didn’t do much felting. Maybe in these 35 mins wasn’t any heating involved? Will try hand wet felting with the frame…

the dragoness part (I dont want a huge bag):
- 5(?) sts each side at here widest --> 55sts
--> how many rows does the cabled border need?

cabled border:
- the swatches: 26.6 sts/48.6 rows=10cm (53 rows per 10 cm would be double of 26.6 sts, so it’s nearly 2 rows per st)
-51 sts should make the same as (48.655)/26.6=93rows for the inner side of the frame (=without the corner)
