August 1: I hope posting this, the fact that I’m stuck might help motivate me to finish them. Started with a bang. Cast on with Judy’s co and have 48 sts as the main sock. The pattern is really pretty with this yarn. These are my first DK socks. While I am using the basic design from Mom’s socks I have modified pattern by using twisted stitches, left and right rather than the “ mpr, ssk” etc. Leaning twisted stitches left or right depending on whether it’s the left or the right sock. I am also using Liat’s recipe for basic socks so I can be sure they fit.
Have finished things and started others, I am so close to finished, well really I could bind off here but I do want them a little higher.
This is the second project with Malabrigo’s Rastita and it’s a wonderful, wonderful yarn. The yarn is single ply and won’t wear well as “regular” socks so these will be bed socks.
August 12: Don’t know why I bogged down on these…. but they are finally finished. I used a Kitchener’s extra stretchy bind off in pattern, as per Rob’s suggestion bound off the two knit stitches in the center back (they are side by side) as one so I was able to stay in pattern with the 1x1 ribbing. They aren’t as long as I would have preferred but came out OK otherwise.
When I bound them off I ran out of yarn on the second sock!!! I almost didn’t have enough for the first one so I allowed an extra 8”. Where did it go? Anyway, opted to spit splice it and you can’t really tell.
