My nephew lives in Florida. I am aiming to make this the right size for Fall/Winter when he may need a light sweater.

I looked all over for baby sweater schematics to figure out what I needed to do to make adjustments.

for a sweater that is 26” around

Each strip I am casting on 23 and knitting for 11” )

I used the pattern that I bought online. I slip the first stitch of each row.

My seams appear different than the other sweaters. I really like it, but can’t tell you what I did differently. The only thing that may be different is that I picked up all of the stitches running down the first knitted color band with a long cable needle, then casted on all of the stitches needed for the new color band.

Then as I knitted my first new row I placed a stitch marker before the last stitch so that I could slip and knit it to the previously knitted band. (Clear as mud, I am sure) Otherwise I followed the tips on the instructions.

Because my seams appeared flat - I did a mattress stitch to sew the sleeves and sides.

I used a #3 needle to pickup for the button band. I picked up each slip stitch. and then 2 for every 3 stitches along the back. Otherwise the smaller needle was tugged at the front.

3/27/2011 - love this little pattern. :-) The yarn is perfect for this as well.
