The pattern does not say what size beads, but it looks like the designer used 6/0. But I have 8/0 on hand and was impatient to cast on, so I am using smaller beads.

Mods: I am converting this stole into a top modeled after one my SIL got me that was made in Italy. I need two rectangles, so I didn’t need to do a provisional cast-on. I will also skip the pointed border in order to get two rectangles to seam together.

Given written instructions as well as charts, I always go for the charts, but this time, I am using only the written instructions. Somehow it seems easier than going chart to chart across the row.

So for each side, I modified to

Rows 45 LC LS – 112 DC DS: Repeat Rows 9 LC LS – 44 DC DS once more, then work Rows 9 LC LS - 40 DC DS. Then bind off.
