When she says to “pick up stitches,” I now think she means “pick up and knit.” When I picked up and then worked the given instructions, I was working reverse stockinette, but pictures look like stockinette, so I am tinking back and re-doing it with “pick up and knit.”
Knit bobble: kfb x 2 in same stitch, turn and p 4, turn and k2tog and ssk, turn p2tog, turn and slide st ton right needle

Keep squinting to see if the colors work. Thinking to rip back, get rid of the burgundy, and just use undyed for both B and D. And whether baubles should be the tan color.

I have run out of rainbow yarn—just enough for the four body panels. So I will need to make the granny square centers for sleeves using other yarn. I think I have enough handspun scraps to make some crazyball bits that look like the rainbow yarn.

Finished third panel.

Finished fourth panel and one sleeve and half done with second sleeve.
I am blocking everything aggressively because I love the drape and because I want this to be an oversized duster.

Sewed front and back and already like it even without band and sleeves. If I sewed side seams, it would be wearable already! Or without side seams, a ruana!
Thinking I might not sew sides all the way down and leave side slits.
If I dislike the sleeves, I will remove them and wear it as short sleeves.

For the band, I am using the garland pattern from p. 252 of Barbara Walker’s Second Treasury.

Finished! Got some dark, indoor pics, but hope to get some natural light outside photos tomorrow.
