Trying another little Oakley. I think this yarn is closer to the one used by the designer. It is labeled #4 and Ravelry says its an “Aran” or heavy worsted yarn, but in reality it’s much closer to sock weight. I’ve gone down to a 3.25mm needle and could easily go down to 3mm.
Mar 3:
After a few rows I dropped to 3mm (could possibly go 2.75) and switched to blunter points, this is ridiculously tiny yarn to be classified as #4 or Aran. It’s also very splitty and delicate feeling, keeps getting snagged on my cuticles and dry skin.
Mar 9:
Little Oakley is almost finished, just needs a tiny bit more assembly. This one is also very cute. Struggled to get tidy thumbs, not sure how to make 4 tiny stitches tighter and neater.
March 10:
Little Oakley is all finished, big Oakley helped with assembly. DH is concerned that I’m running a little teddy bear sweatshop.
I can’t believe these 2 yarns are rated the same.
I made the legs for this little guy as directed, they’re cute and just long enough to cross his feet. The legs on both bears hang very wide and can appear to be backwards since they’re attached at the very sides, but I think they’re attached correctly. A photo would be a good addition to the pattern.
Sept 6:
I added some pictures of Little Oakley at his new home. For my grandmother’s funeral visitation and service I gave little knit toys to all the great-grands; something small, soft and quiet that they could cuddle, or play with quietly during the various events. They were a huge hit, bigger than I even dreamed, and they served their purpose perfectly!
Little Oakley was my favourite so I gave him to my only nephew, seen having breakfast together the morning of the funeral.
