The Nautilus Scarf

I’ve called this scarf ‘The Nautilus Scarf’ because the stitches look little Nautilus shells. It’s a bit hard to stipulate gauge because I found this yarn to shrink so much after washing, it doesn’t really matter anyway for this item. The scarf is worked back and forth in rows.

Alternative yarns include any DK/8ply or even ‘chunky’ yarn would work for this pattern. I have used American crochet terms in this pattern.

10mm (N/P) Crochet Hook (mine is bamboo)
1 Ball of Cleckheaton “California” 8ply

SCARF
Chain 24.
Row 1: single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across – 22 single crochet at the end of this row.
Row 2: Chain 1, turn, working in front loops only, single crochet in each single crochet across. Repeat Row 2 until almost reaching the end of the ball of yarn. Cast off. Weave in ends. TA DA!

A pretty edge stitch could be added up the sides of the scarf if desired.

Note: I found that this yarn shrunk a lot after washing, even tho’ I washed it on ‘wool/delicate’ setting.
