I recently finished a sockhead slouch hat in which I used US3 needles, sport weight superwash yarn, 2x2 ribbing, and a CO stitch count of 144. I really like its fit and am using these attributes in this Gratitude hat.

CO 144 sts using German twisted method.
Used combination knitting for the ribbing.
Started crown decreases when tube was 8.5” tall.

Hat crown was too pointy for me. Tinked back to 20 sts (10 sts per needle), then cinched close by method used in my spur hat.

If I were to make this again with the same yarn/needle combo, I would add 8 additional stitches. Otherwise, I am thrilled with the outcome.
