Hat 1: Size L; “Unraveling…a knitting podcast colorway” (12g). The variegated yarn made ribbing look wonky. Frogged and restarted with a 10-round, folded, hemmed brim. Used US 2 needles for brim and US 3 for rest of hat. If I were to use a hemmed brim again, I would make it longer.

Hat 2: Size M; Unraveling…a knitting podcast (5g) & Candy Pink colorways (3g); US 3 needles. Used alternating CO and pattern 202 from Hitomi Shida’s Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible for brim.

Hat 3: CO 66 sts. Made hemmed brim of 14 rounds. Used “Unraveling…a knitting podcast” remnant (2g), and Cloudborn Fibers Superwash Sock twist remnants (9g) from my Inara Wrap. Used US 2 needles for hemmed brim and US 3 for body and crown.

Hat 4:Size L. CO 72 sts with JMCO over 2-US 3 needles as provisional technique, and 14g apple orchard colorway. Made hemmed brim after 15 rounds.

Hat 5: Same as hat 4, except used Turkish CO over 2-US 3 needles as provisional CO and worked 16 rounds in hemmed brim. 13g apple orchard colorway used.

Hat 6: Size L; CO 72 sts. US 3 needles. Brim: 2 g Loden colorway. Body: 9 g Orchard colorway.

Hat 7: Size L. CO 72 sts with JMCO over 2 circs. Hemmed brim: US 2 needles, 15 rounds, 4g Apple Orchard colorway. Body/crown: US 3 needles, 9g Swish Bare; chart from p. 28 of the Gansey Knitting Sourcebook.

Hat #8 Size M, US 3 needles, CO 60 sts via German twisted CO. Used 4 g Cinnabar and 4 g Loden colorways.

Hat #9 Same as Hat #8 except used 4g Cinnabar and 4 g Nutmeg colorways.

Hat #10: Used 9g Drachenauge colorway, US 3 needles, CO (German twisted) 60 sts. Although stitch count was for size M, the sport-weight yarn resulted in a M/L size hat.

Hat 11: CO (German twisted) 60 sts, US 3 needles, 1g Burnt Umber Heather, 4g Cinnabar, 3g Drachenauge. Learned/practiced Norwegian purls.

Hat 12: Practiced corrugated ribbing with Norwegian purls. Floats for 2x2 ribbing were too long for little fingers. Restarted with 1x1 ribbing and US 3 needles. CO 60 sts with loose long tail CO, knit one round, knit next round with (k1 CC, k1 MC), knit next 3 rounds with (k1 CC, p1 MC), k 1 round CC, knit 1 round MC while incr 4 sts, k 5 rounds MC straight. Started star toe of 4 points for crown decrease sequence (24 rounds) to see if it would be suitable for a Christmas stocking. Used 2g Heartfelt and 5g Matcha colorways. The star toe of 4 points has potential for a Christmas stocking toe only if a high ply yarn is used. The star-shape of the purls got totally lost in the 2 ply superwash yarn I used for this hat.

Hat 13: Similar to hat 12. CO 56 sts with loose long tail CO with CC and US 3 needle. R1: k1, p1 with CC. R2-5: k1 MC, p1 CC. R6:k knit 1 round CC while incr 8 sts. R7: k1 round CC. R 8-16: k with MC. R17: start star toe of 4 points for crown decrease sequence (23 rounds); substituted k2tog/k3tog for p2tog/p3tog. Used 2g Heartfelt and 7g Matcha colorways.

Hat 14: Used corrugated ribbing for brim (as in hat 13), but went back to the 3 point crown decrease of this pattern. CO (long tail) 56 stitches (then increased to 63 after brim), US 3 needles, 6g Heartfelt, 2g Matcha. Added tree motif using duplicate stitch.

Hat 15: CO (German twisted) 60 sts, US 3 needles, 4g Heartfelt, 3g Matcha.
