Notes

Using up stash, making it up as I go.

Starting with a Magic Circle (with a long tail) and casting on 6 stitches.
Round 1: Using both working yarn and tail together, knit into each stitch, creating 12 stitches.
Round 2: Knit
Round 3: K2, M1 around - 18 stitches
Round 4: Knit
Round 5: K3, M1 around - 24 stitches
Round 6: Knit
Round 7: K4, M1 around – 30 stitches
Round 8: Knit
Round 9: K5, M1 around - 36 stitches
Round 10: Knit
Round 11: K6, M1 around - 42 stitches
Round 12: Knit
Round 13: K7, M1 around - 48 stitches
Round 14: Knit

Welp…I miscalculated - did 1 less K before each M1 - starting with R-3 - so now I have 96 stitches.
Checked with MIL - who has done loads of these, and knows the measurements for Emma - she suggested just do the rest as 2x2 ribbing, and it’ll be fine!

After Round 13, at my MIL’s suggestion, I did 2x2 ribbing.

When I realized I’d not have enough of the multi-colour to make a full beanie, I set aside enough for a few rounds, double-stranded the cream until near the end (perfect timing, got to the end of the ball of cream in time to splice in the multi and another ball of cream to do 4 rounds of multi, then 3 rounds of cream and a super stretchy bind off to finish it.

Should not only fit my niece as is, but can ‘grow’ with her, as there is plenty of stretch to this thing!
