Just thought I’d make something for my cats to relax in, on those days it’s bloody hot and circulation of air all around is a good thing!
Update: For better stability, I attached bamboo poles to the sides. Added pics of the upgrade, including a measuring tape for size, and a mildly-annoyed-at-suddenly-being-relocated cat for modeling. ;)

Now that the cats seem more inclined into using this during hot weather, I updated it with a second hammock so they could both be comfy when it’s 40° C here.
New pic shows one cat in each hammock.
28-08-2016 Pattern notes.
Pattern for top one:
CO 55 stitches on 4mm needle, purl onto 3.5mm needle.
For stability, first 3 rows done plain stockinette. (Purl all, knit all, purl all.)
After that:
Row 1: K1, ~YO, K2Tog - rep from ~, end in K2Tog.
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: ~K2Tog, K1 - rep from ~, end in K1.
Row 4: Purl
For bottom hammock, I used an uber stretchy cast on, and went straight to the fish-net pattern, skipping the 3 plain rows.
Did a 2-stitch I-Cord along long edges, then tied them to the chair frame and bamboo supports.
Introduce cats. ;)
Each hammock took an entire ball of the yarn, plus extra from another ball for I-Cord & to attach them to the frame. (I still have some left over from the 3rd ball.)
