Have finished Clue 5.
Decided I wasn’t keen on the provided border, so found another I liked.
Below is the instructions for the border, modified to allow for a slip-stitch edge and connecting to the throw as I go.
Alternate Saroyan Edging – Just the repeat segment for a full surround border.
Did a provisional Cast On of 16 stitches, and with the provisional yarn knit 2 full repeats, starting and ending with Row 2. Switched to working yarn on Row 3. Final knit row will be Row 1, and will Kitchener Row 2 to graft the ends together.
Odd number rows are the ‘front’ of the pattern – they start with a K2Tog that knits the live stitch of the blanket with the first stitch of the edging.
Row 1: K2Tog, P1, M1R, K1, M1L, YO, K1, YO, SSK, K5, K2Tog, K1 (16 sts).
Row 2: Slip 1st stitch purl-wise, P7, K3, P3, K2.
Row 3: K2Tog, P1, K1, YO, K1, YO, SSK, YO, K2, YO, SSK, K3, K2Tog, K1 (17 sts).
Row 4: Slip 1st stitch purl-wise, P5, K4, P5, K2.
Row 5: K2Tog, M1, P1, K1, slip 1 as if to knit, transfer back to left needle, knit through front leg, YO, K1, YO, KtBl, SSK, YO, K3, YO, SSK, K1, K2Tog, K1 (19 sts).
Row 6: Slip 1st stitch purl-wise, P3, K5, P7, K1, PtBl, K1.
Row 7: K2Tog, M1, KtBl, P1, K2, slip 1 as if to knit, transfer back to left needle, knit through front leg, YO, K1, YO, KtBl, K1, SSK, YO, K4, YO, CDD, K1 (21 sts).
Row 8: Slip 1st stitch purl-wise, bind off 7 sts purl-wise, (there should be 1 st on your right needle and 13 sts on your left at this point in the row), P9, K1, PtBl, K2 (14 sts).
M1 – Bring a loop up through the bar between stitches below, with no twisting.
CDD - Centered Double Decrease: Slip two stitches as if to K2Tog, then slip the third stitch the same way. Knit them all together through the back, like you would with an SSK stitch.

Just hit the half way point along the first side with the border. Weighed what’s left of that ball of yarn - 57g left, out of 100, and I’ve 4 more balls in the same dye lot.
Yay, this means I’ll have plenty of this dye lot to do the entire border!
Mind you, this is not the same dye lot as the body of the blanket, but it’s a discontinued yarn, so I work with what I’ve got.
