Mods:

Instead of K2 P2 ribbing I did the broken rib stitch as follows:

row 1: K1, P1 repeat to end
row 2: knit all stitches
continue with rows 1-2 for almost 2”.

Did only 1 repeat of the squirrel pattern instead of the 2 called for in the larger sizes. Then I followed the chart for decreases (with some mods) but just with the main color. Those mods are as follows:
rows 19 - 22 just plain stockinette.
On row 23 I decreased 16 sts instead of 10 which left me with 112 sts total.
24-25 stockinette
on row 26 decreased 10 sts. 102 total
27 stockinette
28 decreased 14 sts. 88 total
29 stockinette
then switch to knit 2, purl 2 for neckline.

I also decided not to do the little design inbetween the squirrels on the chart. I couldn’t get past what my husband said it looked like :P

This pattern runs HUGE, mostly in width. I knit the 2 yo size for my 23 pound 2 yo and it nearly fits my 4 1/2 yo. But at least my birthday boy will get lots of use out of it! The yarn was a dream to knit with.

If I knit it again I will cast on less stitches for the body.

I think that is it. This sweater is adorable but will look much cuter on him when he grows into it and the neck sits right.

First time knitting a sweater from the bottom up. This feels really strange.

This project has been in my favs since Little L was still in my belly :)
