Notes

I found the pattern for the hat here on the Polka Dot Cottage Blog

http://www.lisaclarke.net/2012/01/14/quick-knits-for-the-...

but it is a modified version of the one found here-
http://irishhikingknitalong.blogspot.com/2006/11/irish-hi...

I love the version by Polka Dot Cottage because it preserves the cables. and the “Flower” on the top.

I modified the patter further by reducing the cast on because i was using Chunky Yarn. So instead of 8 pattern repeats I only have 6 pattern repeats.

am much happier with the way the crown came out on this one. I wanted to maintain the integrity of the purl columns from top to bottom, so I had to replace nearly all of the K2togs in the decrease rows with P2togs, like so:

P2, K2, P2tog, K6
P2, K2, P1, K6
P2, K1, P2tog, K6
P2, K1, P1, K6
P2, P2tog, K6
P3, K6
P1, P2tog, K6
