After many false starts with the long starting chain, not getting the twist right, and not having the fans line up the first go round, I finally sat down one afternoon while tolerating a hot day in Hungary this summer and figured it out. You need to have 308 stitches to start that first fan round and even still, I had to occasionally fudge it a bit to make them line up perfectly. That’s really the key round for this pattern.
After you get that foundation fan round (I think it’s round 3 or 4) done, it’s easy peasy.
Dyed the yarn myself from a cone, so it was one continuous yarn, in a colorway I call Deep Russet. I don’t offer it as a regular colorway but can dye it up anytime if you’re interested. I mistakenly dyed 552 yards instead of the 660 needed, so I eliminated Rounds 14 and 15.
When blocking is completed and I weave in the 2 ends, I’ll post an updated photo modeling it. It is a lovely pattern once you get past the beginning and the end result is beautiful.
