There were about two dozen yarns I collected and used in the sweater. That’s because I was a beginning knitter: had no idea how many balls of yarn it took to make anything; randomly bought pretty, shiny things; love copper and tobacco colors; love interesting textures.

In the aftermath I realized I had to knit something significant out of it after spending over $300 on yarn. So I made a cardigan. Thank goodness I found this pattern, which is really just 5 rectangles knit in garter stitch on the bias.
