Making the second size up: CO 80 for body and CO 30 for collars.
The knitting is so easy it’s almost boring. I was able to make quite some speed though. Love that.
After you are done with knitting all three pieces being 1 huge big rectangle and 2 narrower rectangles, you may want to steamblock before sewing everything together.
Especially the two narrow stockinet pieces will curl terribly at the sides. Whaddaya expect… stockinet will ALWAYS do this. That is simply its character.
This is how I steamblock:
I take a thick bathtowel and make it wet. Then I wring this same towel as best as I can so that it is no longer dripping wet but very damp.
I place the piece that I want to steamblock over my iron board with wrong side facing me and on top of that piece I place that damp thick towel. While I place the damp towel over my piece, I gently lay the curling edges flat as best as possible.
Finally, I go over the damp towel with my iron (hottest setting). Go sloooow. You will see how much steam will appear. CAREFUL NOT TO BURN YOURSELF. This steam will penetrate your knitting piece and stitches will smooth out.
Then flip my piece around (Right side is now facing up) again place the damp towel over it and steamblock again.
Never put your hot iron directly on your knitted piece! Always make sure you have a thick bathtowel between your knitted piece and the heat source.
After I am done with all three pieces, I lay them flat to dry as they are very damp now.
This steamblocking step took me about 20 minutes.
Ready for assembling now…
