Such a cute, quick pattern. Must file away the dental floss technique for getting the yarn through the button for future use - it’s a little inspired bit of genius!

The button was one my daughter chose from my Grandma’s (her great Grandma’s) button stash that I inherited, which makes me smile. Miss my lovely Grandma who adored crafts just like I do, her favorites being crochet and sewing. It always makes me feel still connected to her when I get to incorporate something from her stash into my own project. <3 =)

Had to make some adjustments to the hook size & stitch count because the Tahki Cotton Classic I used is at the light worsted / DK weight range. Went down to a size E hook, plus on Round 2 instead of just 2 sc in each 5 sc around, which would have left me with 10 sc, I increased to have a total of 12 sc when that round was complete. Worked rest of pattern as indicated until making button flap, then made the button flap 6 sts wide instead of 5 sts (5 sts was half of the st count when working the pattern as written; 6 sts was half of my 12 st count.

If I make another, I’ll add the button a little earlier on. Mine was placed kind of high up on the chapstick holder, which altered the shape of the top when closed.
