Notes

After making other bear patterns…. I found I really dont like this one and will not be doing it again…..

I hope the following notes are understandable :)

The blue bear is the original pattern and the purple is the one I changed a bit.

I like this fuzzy yarn, however; it is difficult to work with.
My goal was to tweak this pattern to decrease seaming! and in doing so this also decreased the amount of purling :)

Body
I followed the body pattern for the most part:
(knit with DPN’s in the round, but you can also use magic circle and make your life easier!)

My second goal for the body was to eliminate the floppy head, so I knit the body as one continuous piece then for the neck I just wove yarn in and out all the way around then pulled until I liked what I saw then bound off and tucked the ends into the bear.

The first instructions for the body are to cast on 5 sts. I cast on 10 sts in the round and put different markers at the start and in between so I would know where my start and middle are.

The increases stay in the middle of each body panel

For the decreases I did them at the start of each body panel and it worked out just fine

I stopped my decreases at 30 sts around

Knit 6 rows even

To start the increases for the head

knit 1 st in next 4 then kfb to increase and continue for both body panels.

Stitch markers no longer required but you could keep them

Continue increasing

1 st in next 5 then KFB
1 st in next 6 then KFB
knit 1 round even
1 st in next 7 then KFB for 54 sts in total

knit 8 rows even

start the head decreases

knit 7 sts then decrease and continue the same way as the increases

I left open to attach the eyes then just seamed the head shut, I did no further knitting on the head.

Mussle
Cast on six stitches (three on each needle)

Round 1) K6 (6 sts)
Round 2) Kfb6 (12 sts)
Round 3) K12
Round 4) (K1, Kfb)
6 (18 sts)
Round 5) K18
Round 6) (K2, Kfb)6 (24 sts)
Round 7) K24
Round 8) (K3, Kfb)
6 (30 sts)

Ears

I started at the top with DPN“S in the round

I used the instructions for the inner ear, using the larger needles and only knit 4 rounds even after the increases

I also chose to not stuff the ears, so they could be more of a cupped shape.

Arms I converted the pattern to knit in the round

Legs I was unable to figure out how to do it in the round so did them as written and seamed them.
However, I think a knitting sock pattern with the same diameter would work very well and then no seaming!
