Great Yarn + Great Pattern + Great Designer = Happy!

I’ve made several projects using Olga’s patterns. Each time I say this one is my favorite. This one is my FAVORITE! It’s has quite a bit of mindless knitting that is great for the car etc. then you get to do this fun, fun, colorwork. Olga is a mathematical genius.

I would consider this pattern suitable for an enthusiastic beginner but soooo enjoyable for all skill levels.

Swatch, swatch, swatch, I always knit a swatch and wet block before I do a project. I could not get gauge with the yarn I had selected. The gauge was suppose to be 22 sts and I ended up with 23 1/2. Since this was a shawl and I’m under 5 ft I decided to go for it.

The video is exceptional! You can see from the swatch I messed up. I worked the swatch until I was comfortable with the color work.

I used a size 3 needle for the colorwork section.

Row 1 of the colorwork section is the setup row for the pattern. I would encourage knitters to double check their stitch count.

I knitted the icord bind off with a size 4 needle. Next time I will consider using a size 5.

My gauge worked out to be 24 stitches per 4”. The shawl was 35” x 55”.
