I always try to make a few sweaters for Anubis for the winter, to make sure she stays warm. I happened to have a lot of yellow and black this year, so she’s going to be a bee.
There’s no set pattern, because it is fit specifically for her, but here’s an approximation:
All done with single crochet.
Neck:
Chain to fit, join.
SC enough rows (in the round) to make it fold over thickly, do row to bring the first and current rows together for a thicker neck (reduces the stress on the sweater over time). Do not bind off.
Body:
Continue with SC (in the round), interchanging yellow and black. Try it on dog after every few rows.
When the front legs are reached, SC until first leg, CH to fit, re-attach with SC. SC over chest to next leg. CH exact same as previous, or to fit, re-attach with SC, SC to row end.
SC back and forth between over-back side and between-legs side (attach each row to the chained leg holes), until the two are able to come back together.
Continue SC (in the round). Try on every few rows. Reduce if waist goes in (as this dog’s does), but not so much that you cannot get the waist end over the dog’s ribcage when putting it on. If it does not go on without a struggle, you’ve reduced too much.
Bind off!
