Started this yesterday with some of my stash 5/2 perle cotton, 2.75 mm (C) hook. The first one is for me. Tinna kept saying in her video that they make great gifts. I agree and can see many of these in my future.

I finished the first one, a little bigger than I wanted but am satisfied as my first attempt.

I finished two more - this time with my little mini skeins of Durable Coral and a 3.25 mm (D) hook. The zipper is 4.5 inches on these and the bags actually ended up a little smaller than I had hoped for. But they will still make nice little gifts. I’m ready to start another one!

I made two more this week, both with Durable Coral. The yellow & gold one is same size as the other two in the group picture. Like the turquoise / teal purse, it’s a mosaic design I improvised. The purple / lilac purse is the zigzag pattern from Tinna. All three of them are made with 4.5 inch nylon zippers.
The multicolor one is slightly larger, made with a 5 inch nylon zipper. I used leftover scraps and love the way it turned out. The pattern is also from Tinna’s purse pattern, the Apache Tears variation.
If you’re wondering where I’m finding zippers of different lengths, the answer is that I’m not. Instead, I’m shortening longer zippers - and eventually I’ll stumble on the perfect length! There are tons of videos and blog posts about how to shorten zippers, just google to find one. I looked at several, just needed a quick refresher because Home Economics class (as they called it when I was in high school) was decades ago. (Also, I shorten mine at the top - not at the bottom as many of the videos and posts advise - I like to keep the metal stopper at the bottom.)
Another note - I like my stitch count to be exact number of repeats. So on the first round of the purse, I make increases if necessary to adjust the stitch count to be what I need.

I finished another one today - this time I used a zipper length of 5.5 inches and several colors of green perle cotton with gold throughout. I think this one is a gift for my step-daughter. (I couldn’t get a close-up of the purse, whenever I moved my phone color, the green colors got distorted to blue . In fact, you have to look real close at the phototo see the color diff between the gold and some of the background colors.)
I’ve decided to mark this project as finished but I’ll still keep adding more pictures as I make more purses.
