I decided to use some of the leftover yarn from my In Memory Of MeMaw project to make some placemats.

I didn’t use a pattern, these are my notes for future reference and for anybody else who is interested:
12” x 18” (approx)
Ch 99
Rnd 1 - sc in 2nd ch from hook & then in both sides of ch w/ 3 sc in each end stitch - 200 sc
Rnd 2 - sc in each sc with increase just before & just end stitch - 204 stitches
Now you can use any 6-stitch or 12-stitch repeat
Don’t work in spirals, instead use slip stitch to fasten each round & join
To keep the two sides of the placement from slip-sliding away from each other, tack them together on the inside (not too loose, not too tight) three of four times as you’re making them - just use a bit of the yarn used to make the placemats.

Reminder: I tacked the first placemat at Row 15 of pattern and then at Row 25

I’ve finished the first placemat, halfway through the second placemat. I did 57 rows of stitch pattern then finished with two rows of BLSC in dark grey, then slip-stiched the sides together in same dark grey.

Both mats complete, blocking now, wahoo. I was getting really tired of changing colors; fortunately, I didn’t have to worry about concealing the ends since they’re all inside the placemat - I just worked over the ends as I crocheted.
They ended up 11.5 inches high x 20 inches long. A little different than I originally plaaned but they will work - and we get to use them starting tomorrow!
