My friend Julie gifted me a great big box of this yarn - 88 mini skeins. Perfect for mosaic crochet. I’m going to make placemats - may keep some but will mostly pass on thus lovely, thoughtful gift to other.

Note to self: COUNT AT THE END OF EVERY ROW before you cut the yarn! Especially when you have limited amount of yarn for each color. Seriously. This is a lovely pattern but challenging so remember the carpenter’s creed: count twice, cut once.

Finished one placemat - it’s a little small (3 repeats of the chart for each row) but I am very satisfied with result. I’ve marked the project as 25% done because I want to make 3 more placemats. None of them will be the same color, these skeins are just the right size for one section of the pattern.

Another note to self: when you have such tiny skeins, do not be generous in length of yarn tails. I’m working on Placemat #2 and not enough background color to finish the last background row so I had to find a different color for the last background row. It’s close but not exactly the same.
