22th Sep 08: Made first fish! :) I’m just wondering if I have enough yarn for putting the blanket together…
24th Sep: First 10 fishes are ready. This blanket is not going to be so large, because I can make 6 fishes from a ball of yarn and I have totally 13 balls. I’m just wondering how to put together the blanket so that the sewing is invisible.
27 Nov: Started knitting more fishes on sick leave. Now there are 37 fishes which is one over half (I plan to make 72 fishes). Yey!
5 Dec: 64 fishes ready, looks good (if I just find the missing 2 yarn balls :)
15 Feb: I knitted the last 12 fishes. Now it’s “only” sewing the blanket together! :)
1 Mar: I made the first proposal how the blanket would look like. Now I just have to think if I like it or not. There are totally 75 fishes (5 x 15) and I think that the blanket is very good size for a baby. There was only 1 fish too much, but I think I’m going to knit some more and make a mobile, too.
1 Apt: It’s ready! I sew it together so that there are no extra colors. I just love the result and I hope this small girl (born last Fri) will love it also! I haven’t made anything to this blanket, yet, maybe I have to show a little bit of steam for it!
About sewing: I sewed first the sides (flanks) of the fishes using the begin and end yarns of each patch. I made 5 rows like this. Then I sewed the rows together. First I tried to use black yarn but it didn’t look so nice. Then I decided to use short pieces of yarn so that it’s always one of the 2 colors, which are in the fishes.
