Using https://www.ravelry.com/projects/wanderlustknitter/ninilc... as inspiration for playing with sizing. I’m being a brat and not doing a swatch. It’s my own fault if I get a few inches in and rip out, I know. This used to be my favorite yarn of all time so I’m familiar with it, and I know it g r o w s when blocked so I might just stay with Size 1 and see how it looks. Also I’m a loose knitter, so using much smaller needles than called for. Everything can be loose & swingy excerpt the neck opening and the arms, right?

CO with 2.5mm circs 90 sts, did a few rounds then started increasing to 102 (still a multiple of 6 so it’ll work with Chart A. Just to make sure the neck doesn’t stretch out too much. Switching to 3mm circs to begin colorwork.

Day 2, and I just finished Chart B using my Addi 3mm. I love colorwork, I love Silky Wool!
Mods so far:
I knit Chart A with 3 rows instead of 2.
I added an extra plain rnd after the neck short rows.
I changed the inc method (did k1fb instead of m1L, because it takes me like 1/10th of the time to do k1fbs sweat_smile)
I increased to 156 before Chart B (knitting a size somewhere between A & B)
Threw in an extra plain rnd after those incs.

Ok, day 4! I have made ridiculous amounts of progress on this, thanks to several car rides where I didn’t have to drive and a few early nights at home just knitting and watching shows. Love those kinds of weeks.

Mods, more mods:
After Chart B I increased to somewhere between size 1 & size 2, which I am doing consistently throughout the project. So 240 sts for Chart C, then 344 sts for Chart D.
I also threw in a few extra plain rounds at the increases, just because.

In Chart C I finally finished a color! Bye bye, red. Thanks for hanging out in the stash for so long.

After Chart D, inc to 420. Whew, only one more chart & one more set of increases to go! I found https://www.ravelry.com/projects/Jadeltron/ninilchik-swon... on Instagram, and love the darker sleeves. That’s my motivation for getting to the split.

I’m vending at the Fall Festival at the Folk School this weekend so I have LOTS of time to knit! I finished all the colorwork charts, so now it’s straight on til morning.

Sizing notes: for the last round of incs, I did only a handful to get me to Size 1. So it’s like a Size 1.5 all the way through the colorwork and then a 1. We’ll see!

Woo hoo, sleeve sts are separated out!

10-21-2019

In the home stretch now. I added length to the body (partly to use up yarn, partly because it was looking too short). Now I’m doing my k2p2 sleeves. The only thing I’m dissatisfied with so far is that it looks like the sleeves are going to start above my elbows… But I haven’t fully blocked it yet, so hopefully that will help everything drop.

Finally DONE!
I lengthened the cuffs so that I could use at the very very last of the stashed silky wool. (Well, I did gift three balls of it to my mom.) K2P2 sleeves on US 3 needles, 68 sts.
It blocked out perfectly. This yarn is magical!
