Dang! It got honorable mention (4th place). I’m surprised! But it fits great.
Final totals: I started w about 522g yarn, and ended up with 126g after the sweater was done, so I used about 400g yarn, or just under 7 skeins.
2/6/23: Swatch on US 4 for sleeves to test gauge/pattern. Getting 5.5 sts/in in colorwork. I do really like the hand of the fabric on US 4 needles. Warm & sturdy but still drapey.
Body: 240 corrugated ribbing w US 4, then did some light adjustments on total #s up the body to accomodate different charts. Not much change; no shaping.
Sleeves: CO 48 with US 4, switch to US 2 for 1st half of ribbing (at tan row go up to US 4). After ribbing, work chart 1 on 48 sts. Inc to 54 after 1st peerie, then slowly from 64 up to 100 at upper arms. A bit loose up there, probably did not need the full 100. The low 90s would have been better. For next time…
Held 13 sts under ea. arm, could definitely do more like 18 next time. Horizontal width is a bit short, paired with the overly wide biceps it’s a bit awkward. ALSO I totally didn’t pick up & fix those holes correctly at the sides of the underarms! Next time, I’ll use this method.
Yoke:
-Had 413 (!) sts after joining sleeves.
-1st decrease: 238 total sts (oops, that is 45% decreased. Shoot! It seems ok though.) Knit to 7.5” from underarm.
-2nd decrease: 25% (k2, k2tog) all the way around = 178 sts.
-Knit 3 rnds, dec. again in same way = 133 sts.
Short rows: k to 30 before marker, begin pattern, knit to 30 after marker, work first double st (DS to begin short rows in pattern). So proud of myself for doing my short rows in pattern! Ooh la la, it’s so pretty!
Cast off (stretchy bind off) at 115 sts. Hopefully it won’t roll as much as it is right now, pre-blocking… shoulda done more ribbing.
