A new duffel jacket for Sonny - he has worn his grey one loads and it’s now growing too small. The first size didn’t fit him until he was 8 or 9 months old so I am just doing the next size up.

Four days later and it’s all finished and blocking. Just waiting for the toggles to come.

I wish I had gone down a needle size - serves me right for not swatching. This seems much less dense than the last one I made, and it’s really huge too. The sleeves in particular are proportionately very big - I now remember this feature from making this before! But I guess this means it has the potential to fit for a while… I couldn’t bear to cast off the neck and then pick up for the hood, so I fiddled about with the live stitches and joining the sleeves with the front and backs to give the required total.

I did a 3 needle bind off to make a ridge along the hood to add a bit of structure.

Next time I would also (a) try to knit in the round (ghastly sewing up) (b) make the button band 4 stitches instead of 3 stitches wide - this one looks too skinny.

Great colour for my little leprechaun though, and I do enjoy a big fat fast knit every so often.
