Notes

Day one: The neckband for this looks lovely in this yarn. But I am kind of guessing about sizing. Evie is only 17 months old, and she is little for her age. Also, she is not here for me to measure. I am thinking that small people’s heads are nevertheless proportionately large, so have made the collar 100 rows long.

Day two: I’ve picked up 105 stitches along its edge as per the pattern as I’m using a smaller needle and thinner yarn. Scrutinising other Ravelers’ pics of this to try to work out how it is supposed to look, then will try to make it smaller…I sense plenty of frogging is in the offing.

Day three: Frog number 1: the alpaca is too thin to be used single stranded. And I think the collar will be too wide. Frogged and reduced length of collar by 10 rows or so. Re-picked up stitches using double stranded - I did this by picking up through slipped stitches alongside edge and then knitting into front and back of stitches on first row: ended up with 93 stitches. I knitted 6 rows before casting off for the shoulders.

Day four: Going to run out of alpaca so used some of the Sublime yarn to make pink stripes in the bodice. I like it lots, so far. Poems yarn has got some really BRIGHT pink in the mix, which will be exciting to see…(how sad am I?)

Day six: I love this. It’s a perfect fit for Evie, who is trying it on over pyjamas in the pictures. The finished size would fit from as little as 9 months up to 18, I think. I may try to block it a little bigger, as this was supposed to be a Christmas knit and she may well have outgrown it in a couple of months.

This is a great pattern, and is really easy to adjust size wise, thanks Jennifer! I am already planning another…if only going to work didn’t get in the way of knitting.
