Notes

I imagined, when I got this yarn for my birthday, that by Christmas it would be knitted. Alas, it’s only two inches long and it’s Dec 20th already. But it’s a pleasurable and plodding knit, so maybe it will be ready for spring…or next Christmas!?

This yarn is a fantastic colour…it reminds me of the lichen patches found on the stone walls round here.

Four inches in and I have somehow got some really ugly gappy, holey raglan stitches… so am frogging and going to start again from the ribbing. This is going to take such a lot of knitting, and if it’s going to be worth doing, it’s worth doing well…or at least better than I managed so far. Might have to break off to do some other bits and pieces but going to try to focus on this for a while, at least.

Back on track and have caught up with where I was before frogging. Trying not to think about the miles of knitting ahead…why this should be so disturbing I don’t know…is knitting lots of small things easier than one big thing? Maybe I have a touch of attention deficit disorder when it comes to knitting…

May 7
I picked this up again after a longish gap and must have misread the pattern…something very strange has happened and I have got to the casting off for pockets point only to discover my tunic is too short. Frogged back to start of increases. Trying not to mind tooooo much.

May 24
I have reached the pockets and they are in the right place…hooray! Now some no-need to concentrate knitting down to the hem. This should be ready by the time the summer really arrives…great timing, eh?

July 1
Started second sleeve. If I get this finished for autumn I will be happy…

July 20
I have cast off. Oh my goodness. Still need to sew in ends (and little holes at underarms and pocket corners) and block it…but I love it.

July 27
Finished. Nearly. I am not going to sew in ends till the weather is cooler as I am already knitting other stuff.

Roll on autumn. I love this, even though it was my longest knit ever. This is a brilliantly simple and flattering design. I love you Veera! Fishermans’ Sweaters for my boys next on my list.
