Centre part of shawl = 4 triangles knit EON SS:10.5, sewn together after knitting.

The Shawl is 4 triangles, sewn together after making, because I have yet to do a SAYG on the chunky machine that I liked. I do it all the time on standard gauge, but I haven’t been pleased with it on chunky.

Cast on EON, full width of the bed. Decrease 1 stitch each side every second row.

Stripe as you want - I did 10 rows black and 6 rows purple. The work is turned around just before every colour change. If you have a 9mm machine, a standard gauge garter bar will work. Otherwise, take the work off onto a circular knitting needle or waste yarn. When you’re down to 3 or 4 stitches on the triangle, bind off. Sew the 4 triangles together.

The binding around the neck is a simple bias binding: Cast on 5 stitches. Every second row, decrease 1 stitch on side farthest from the carriage and increase 1 stitch on side closest to carriage. Continue until the binding is long enough. Sew onto neck edge.
