For the yarn choice please note:

gauge: 18sts x 26 rows
For this jacket it is important that you can block the garter section to the same lenght than the stockinette part.

Choose a yarn or yarn combination that blocks well and keeps shape so that the garter section will not shrink!
Garter and stockinette are knit with the same needle size
I suggest swatching in stockinette and garter stitch side by side on the same swatch to see how it behaves.
and then block / steam iron to see the result
springy yarns or a yarn that needs to be knit tightly to achieve gauge might not work well

I used a combination of cotton and Alpaca, both in fingering weight
Any combination with kid silk would work as well
Or a heavy yarn (linen- or silk-blend) might work too

silk blends (silk is heavy enough to tie the garter section down)
rayon might work too

for a rustic apearance:
Alpaca fingering + shetland yarn /natural wool fingering
(for example Drops alpaca + Holst Supersoft (see grey picture)

Wichtig! Zur Garnwahl:

Maschenprobe: 18Rx26M
Es ist wichtig, dass kraus rechts und glatt rechts gleich hoch werden nach dem Blocken
Also verwendet kein „elastisches“ Garn, das immer zurückspringen will.
Bitte strickt eure Probe in jedem Fall in kraus und glatt nebeneinander und wascht /dämpft sie, damit ihr das Ergebnis seht.

Ich habe BW und Alpaca gewählt, das klappt gut, die BW ist schwer und die Alpacafasern machen das Gestrick dicht und doch leicht (und es ist nicht so warm wie dicke Wolle)
Kombination mit KidSilk/Mohair geht auch gut
Vielleicht auch etwas mit Leinen…

** leicht steif mit interessantem Griff, und nicht zu warm :
Drops Cotton Safran + Drops Alpaca

Leinen anstelle von Baumwolle geht auch gut

1… rabattre 4 m. sans les tricoter ; glisser 2 m., passer la première par-dessus la seconde, (glisser 1 m., passer la première par-dessus) 3 fois, glisser la maille obtenue sur l’aiguille gauche
2… piquer l’aig. ou le crochet dans la première m. rabattue et tirer une boucle
3… monter 4 m. sur l’aig. droite en crochetant le fil avec un crochet ou les doigts (serrer le fil). Ou bien tourner, et faites un montage provisoire avec le crochet sur l’aiguille gauche, et tourner encore une fois
4… glisser la dernière boucle sur l’aiguille gauche et la tricoter avec la m. suivante, à l’endroit ou à l’envers selon les explications (tricoter serré)
