I wanted to make this for my friend’s birthday, and already had everything planned to work on it during the trip, but at the last moment I panicked that there will be not enough yarn, and switched to Caron SuperSoft that I had in abundance. Only after making the first motif I realized that this hippo is going to be big… huge! a real behemoth! :)
At the same time I surely was fun to answer the questions of people in the plane “what are you making with “a hippo” :)
The hippo is done, and on its way to Michigan. He is a gift for a friend’s birthday, and he is bringing appropriately sized candies! :)
Again, I used a connect as you go technique, connecting all parts from the wrong side. Then I turned it inside out, and the seams looks beautiful and smooth (all ridges are inside now!)
